HEALTH: High & low blood sugar

A doctor friend recently came for a visit and told me about a diabetic patient who came in looking great and said she was off all her medicines.

CNW: Constipation cure?

I recently spent 3 weeks with friends, at two different homes, eating very healthy food (lots of fresh salads, fruits, veg juice, veg/fruit smoothies etc - much as I eat at home, in fact) BUT I was totally constipated for a week and semi-constipated after that...until I started using my CN unit to filter the water: immediately back to normal. Wow!

HEALTH: Water retention

For water retention, doctors usually recommend low-sodium diets and sometimes mention more fruits and vegetables.

Natural diuretic Eating organic fruits/veggies high in water encourages you to pee, so they are a natural diuretic. Try cucumber, celery, onion, watermelon, canteloupe ~ or any organic veggie/fruit that strikes you as being juicy.

Salt Celtic sea salt contains about 80 minerals. Cravings (for salt and for anything else) are often associated with an imbalance or lack of minerals. One doctor even treats HBP with celtic sea salt ~ up to a teaspoon a day. Sounds extreme, but if you have HBP and a lifetime of poor dietary practices, you may find it helps to get onto a mineral-rich diet of organic fruits & vegetables along with a little celtic sea salt.

HEALTH: Dessert First Club

Dessert first? How sacrilegious can you get! Here's the logic: When you have a meal, you often-to-always feel like eating something sweet afterwards. And by the end of the meal, your stomach is full of food and unable to digest even healthy desserts made with fruit ~ so, eat them first!

HEALTH: Urinary Tract Infection

Various remedies recommended by friends:
  • Pomegranate juice
  • Cranberry juice (if you're vegetarian, read the ingredients: often coloured with animal by-product)
  • Essential oils: Helichrysum, Bergamot (take internally and rub on lower stomach)
  • Urine therapy

HEALTH: Slippery Elm

Slippery Elm (bark) is a wonderful, mild all-round remedy. It's great for constipation and diarrhea, for respiratory conditions and indigestion, etc. (See below for more info) It comes in a powder form, has a pleasant smell (like icecream cones!) and tastes slightly sweet. Be sure to buy organic.

If you want to turn a fruit smoothie into a firm dessert, add a little Slippery Elm to the mixture in the blender.

HEALTH: High Blood Pressure and melatonin

Further conversation with vegetarian HBP friend:

I came across this about MELATONIN and HBP in -

CNW: Bombay water

I forgot to say: I used my CN water structuring unit when I went to India in March/April. In fact, I used it in Mumbai (Bombay) of all places, in a very ordinary street-side hotel with very ordinary tap water. I can't believe I drank that stuff ~ but it was a great opportunity to find out first hand whether structured water would protect me from infections, parasites (amoeba, giardia etc.), what-have-you.

All I know is, I had a great trip (more than a month in Mumbai, Delhi and Punjab) and didn't get sick, then or since.

Yey for structured water!

HEALTH: Figuring out when to eat, exercise, sleep

In traditional Chinese Acupuncture, certain times of day are high energy for things like eating and digesting food ~ which might help you decide when to eat and when not to. Interestingly enough, seven months after posting the list below, I came across "Lose Weight Around the Clock" with scientific studies on the benefits of exercising and eating at certain times of day over other times!

  • Heart Meridian 11am-1pm
  • Small Intestine Meridian 1pm-3pm Good time to eat
  • Bladder Meridian 3pm-5pm
  • Kidney Meridian 5pm-7pm Good time to eat liquids? support kidneys, Water Element
  • Heart Protector Meridian 7pm-9pm
  • Triple Heater Meridian 9pm-11pm
  • Gall Bladder Meridian 11pm-1am
  • Liver Meridian 1am-3am
  • Lung Meridian 3am-5am Good time for meditation (breathing in spirit)
  • Large Intestine Meridian 5am-7am Good time to poop!
  • Stomach Meridian 7am-9am Good time to eat
  • Spleen Meridian 9am-11am
LOW ENERGY TIME FOR EACH MERIDIAN is the opposite time of day: If the high energy time is 1-3am, the low energy time is 1-3pm, etc. While 3-5am is the high energy time for the Lung Meridian (the 'time of elixir' for meditators), its opposite time, 3-5pm, is apparently an excellent time for breathing and physical exercise!

TIME OF DAY IS ACTUAL SUN TIME, not adjusted daylight saving time.

I just saw "Searching for Bobby Fischer" ~ wow! It makes you feel like learning chess! I had no idea chess could be such a fast game ~ I love the scenes in Washington Square Park: what a great beginning to Josh's chess experience... And how fantastic that in real life he was good in many sports and merged his chess learning into his later study of Tai Chi and became exceptional at that too!
